My BFF Thanh is an actor in this episode! She’s famous!
FYI, she’s the Asian woman in the restaurant not counting the money.
But the story is too good not to tell.
Here’s a taste of what my life has been like recently:
On Saturday night some friends and I decided to attend an event called “Electronic Takeover” downtown. Imagine an outside rave complete with techno music, glow sticks, and far too many seventeen year olds in attendance for alcohol to be legally served (it is). Since driving was required in order to get to said takeover, I opted to stay sober and drive my drunk friends. Parking downtown is not easy and while looking for a spot I was forced to turn around because I had gone too far from the venue. I turned into an empty parking lot, turned around, and parked on the side of the road. As I turned off the car and we started to get out a cop car, sirens balring, pulled up in front of the our vehicle and stopped. The two cars were nose to nose. A cop hopped out the car looking infuriated. Confused I opened the door. “Can I not park here?” I asked as he shouted “Step out of the vehicle!” I did, even more confused.
The cop informed me that I had just driven the wrong way down a one way street and asked for my license and registration. “What?!” I asked. “I’m so sorry, I had no idea…” He interrupted me and told me to get in the back of the cop car. “Have you ever been arrested before?” Terrified, I got in the car. I had never been arrested before and I did not want to be.
Once we were alone he explained that he smelled alcohol from the car I had been driving as well as on me. He had put me in the car because he was a DUI officer and he suspected I was drunk. I quickly and calmly told him I was not - my friends were, however, and I was being safe by driving them. I knew that I had done nothing wrong, yet he was saying he may have to take me to the station, read me my rights, and make me do a Breathalyzer test. Ridiculous. Thankfully he soon realized that he was talking to a sober individual who had made a careless mistake… and gave me a ticket worth almost $400 instead. It was my first offense. Ever. I returned to the car (the cop had to let me out because the doors in the back seat of a cop car have no handles) to two of my friends sitting motionless and the third clutching a bottle of vodka and laughing. “I wish you had been arrested so I could have snapped of photo of you in handcuffs. It would have made a great profile picture on Facebook.”
My life = hilarious.
